Softball Recap: Yorba Linda Mustangs vs. Valencia Vikings
It's playoff time, and Yorba Linda had no trouble coming through when it counted. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 win over the Valencia Vikings on Monday. Five seems to be a good number for the Mustangs as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.
Samantha Cook made a splash no matter where she played. She tossed seven innings while giving up three earned runs off eight hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Madeline Jeanblanc, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Saige Block, who went 3-for-4 with two runs.
