Softball Recap: Yorba Linda Extends Winning Streak to Three

It's playoff time, and Yorba Linda had no trouble coming through when it counted. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 win over the Valencia Vikings on Monday. Five seems to be a good number for the Mustangs as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Samantha Cook made a splash no matter where she played. She tossed seven innings while giving up three earned runs off eight hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Madeline Jeanblanc, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Saige Block, who went 3-for-4 with two runs.

The win (which was Yorba Linda's third in a row) raised their record to 15-12. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for Valencia, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-9.

Yorba Linda didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 14-3 win against Valley Christian on the 21st. Valencia does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
