Soccer Game Preview: St. Michael vs. McKinley

The St. Michael Warriors will square off against the McKinley Panthers at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

St. Michael's defense heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They put the hurt on Port Allen with a sharp 8-0 victory. The win continues a trend for St. Michael in their matchups with Port Allen: they've now won three in a row.

St. Michael's offense was hitting Port Allen from everywhere, as seven different players booted in a goal. Camden Gitz led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for two goals all by himself.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask McKinley). They blew past Northeast 9-1 on Thursday. McKinley might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matches by five goals or more this season.

McKinley's victory bumped their record up to 7-5. As for St. Michael, the win got them back to even at 9-9-4.

St. Michael got the 'W' in their previous meeting back in January of 2025 against McKinley by a conclusive 4-1 score. Will the Warriors repeat their success, or do the Panthers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
