Football Game Preview: Freeport Falcons vs. Dirigo Cougars

Freeport has gone a perfect 4-0 against Dirigo recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Falcons will welcome the Cougars at 6:00 p.m.

Freeport came up short against Poland on Saturday, falling 35-14.

Meanwhile, while Dirigo put up plenty of points on Friday, the same can't be said for Mountain Valley. The Cougars blew past the Falcons 32-0. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won four games by 21 points or more so far this season.

The victory made it two in a row for Dirigo and bumps their season record up to 5-2. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 14 points in those games. As for Freeport, their loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 4-3.

Freeport won a matchup that couldn't have been any closer when the teams last played back in September of 2024, slipping by Dirigo 27-26. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was the Cougars' Hudson Lufkin, who rushed for 171 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 10.7 yards per carry.
