Basketball Recap: East Carteret Takes a Loss

East Carteret played a tough game on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by the Bear Grass Charter Bears 77-20. The contest marked the Mariners' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Leading Bear Grass Charter to victory were Aubery Dotson and Callee Perry. Dotson almost dropped a double-double on 24 points and nine steals, while Perry dropped a double-double on 22 points and 11 boards. The dominant performance gave Perry a new career-high in points. Hylee(Al) Jarrett was another key player, going 6 of 15 on her way to 15 points and three steals.

East Carteret dropped their record down to 0-7 with the loss, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Bear Grass Charter, their win bumped their record up to 6-3.

East Carteret and White Oak will face off at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. East Carteret is facing White Oak at the right time seeing as White Oak is stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Bear Grass Charter, they and Pamlico County will face off at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. Bear Grass Charter's defense has only allowed 27.4 points per game this season, so Pamlico County's offense will have their work cut out for them.
