Lejeune is 0-10 against Pamlico County since April of 2017 but things could change on Tuesday. The Devilpups will take on the Hurricanes at 6:00 p.m. Lejeune has given up an average of 10.5 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Northside - Pinetown hit Lejeune with a ten-run seventh inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Devilpups came up short against the Panthers, falling 13-0.
Lejeune saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Breslyn Weeks, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base.
Meanwhile, Pamlico County got the win against Jones Senior on Friday by a conclusive 13-1. The result was nothing new for the Hurricanes, who have now won six contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Avery Cain was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over six innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 13 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Payton Force was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Sarah Scott, who went 1-for-3 with four stolen bases and three runs.
Pamlico County's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-12. As for Lejeune, they now have a losing record of 7-8.
Lejeune might still be hurting after the 15-0 loss they got from Pamlico County when the teams last played back in March of 2025. Can the Devilpups avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
