Baseball Recap: North Moore Takes a Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact North Moore can now relate to. They lost 9-3 to the Gates County Red Barons on Tuesday. The Mustangs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Red Barons apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2023.

Dalton Massey put in work no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Aidan Corfios was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one run and one RBI. John Carre was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

North Moore's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-11. As for Gates County, the win snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 8-14 record.

North Moore does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Gates County, they will take on Chatham Charter on Friday. The Red Barons' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Knights have averaged an impressive 7.3 runs per game this season.
