Baseball Game Preview: Paraclete Spirits vs. Bishop Amat Lancers

The Paraclete Spirits will face off against the Bishop Amat Lancers at 3:15 p.m. on Friday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Paraclete has struggled recently with three losses in a row, while Bishop Amat will arrive with three straight victories.

Paraclete is headed into the game having just suffered their closest defeat since April 9, 2024 on Tuesday. They fell just short of La Salle by a score of 6-4.

Antonio Longobardi was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Bishop Amat got themselves on the board against St. Paul on Tuesday, but St. Paul never followed suit. They blew past the Swordsmen 7-0.

Justin Peinado tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits over six innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Jacob Campos was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Roman Miranda, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Bishop Amat's win bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Paraclete, they now have a losing record of 3-4.

Paraclete skirted past Bishop Amat 1-0 when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Will Paraclete repeat their success, or does Bishop Amat have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
