Baseball Recap: Montoursville Victorious

Montoursville won the last time they faced Loyalsock Township and things went their way on Thursday too. The Warriors walked away with a 5-1 victory over the Lancers. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Warriors.

Jimmy Mussina made a big impact no matter where he played. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one run and one double.

In other pitching news, Logan Kirby tossed a big game, striking out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

Mussina wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Royce Bowes, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Brayden McCourt also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Montoursville hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Loyalsock Township struck out 11 times.

Montoursville's record now sits at 15-4. As for Loyalsock Township, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-11.

Looking ahead, Montoursville will take on Athens at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Loyalsock Township does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
