Softball Recap: Archer City Sets Scoring Season-High Against Olney

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Archer City). They were the clear victors by a 22-1 margin over the Olney Cubs on Friday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Wildcats with their most commanding win of the season.

Addison Canada 2027 made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with three RBI, one triple, and one run.

In other batting news, Archer City got a massive performance out of Addyson Peters 2026, who scored four runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-5. With that strong performance, Peters 2026 is now averaging an impressive 2.3 runs per game. Millie Mayo 2028 was another key player, scoring four runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Archer City was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .448. The last time their batting average was this high was back in March of 2024.

The victory made it two in a row for Archer City and bumps their season record up to 5-8. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.0 runs over those games. As for Olney, their defeat was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-8.

Coming up, Archer City will host Seymour at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Olney, they will head out to square off against Petrolia at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Cubs will need to watch out since the Pirates have now posted at least ten runs in their last four matches.
