Preview: Central of Clay County Volunteers vs. Demopolis Tigers
The Central of Clay County Volunteers have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome the Demopolis Tigers at 1:30 p.m. on February 16th. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Central of Clay County had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They blew past Elmore County 69-42 at home on Saturday. Central of Clay County has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight contests by 26 points or more this season.
Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Demopolis beat Tallassee 50-45 on Saturday. Given Demopolis' advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 103rd, while Tallassee is ranked 252nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Central of Clay County has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season. As for Demopolis, their victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-5.
