The Moore Haven Terriers will square off against the Donahue Catholic Shamrocks at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Moore Haven is coming into the game on a five-game losing streak.
Last Tuesday, Moore Haven came up short against The Village School of Naples and fell 13-8.
JAELIN JOHNSON was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up a single hit in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing Two bases.
In other batting news, FREDO HERNANDEZ was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring three runs and stealing Three bases. while going 2-for-3. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was JERZAVIAN POPE, who scored a run and stole Five bases.
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last match, Donahue Catholic made sure to put some runs up on the board against Everglades City on Friday. Donahue Catholic put the hurt on Everglades City with a sharp 26-3 victory.
The team relied heavily on Isaac Loboda, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Kadlec, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4.
Donahue Catholic always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .778. Their OBP was a full 0 higher than the also-impressive .565 that Everglades City posted.
Donahue Catholic now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Moore Haven, their loss dropped their record down to 3-5.
Friday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Moore Haven has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .508. However, it's not like Donahue Catholic struggles in that department as they've averaged .592. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
