Softball Recap: Wednesday's Defeat Ends Phoenix's Winning Streak

After a string of five wins, Phoenix's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They fell 7-3 to the Henley Hornets. The Pirates were not able to make up for their loss to the Hornets from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

Keelie Woodside was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run. That home run was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Carsyn Sousa, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Phoenix's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 6-2. As for Henley, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season.

While Phoenix had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
