Basketball Recap: Port St. Joe Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Ellie Newman and KK Mcnair

Port St. Joe lost against Marianna back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. 2025 welcomed the Port St. Joe Tiger Sharks with a 59-34 loss courtesy of the Marianna Bulldogs.

Despite the defeat, Port St. Joe had strong showings from KK McNair, who posted 13 points and five rebounds, and Ellie Newman, who put up 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayla Hill, who earned six points.

Marianna's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Dessiah Gee, who went 6 of 14 on her way to 14 points. Another player making a difference was Ja'Shonna Mathis, who went 5 of 7 on her way to 12 points.

Port St. Joe's loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Marianna, the win got them back to even at 6-6.

Port St. Joe has already played their next contest, a 66-25 defeat against North Bay Haven Academy on the 7th. As for Marianna, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 43-36 loss against Bay on the 7th.
