Basketball Recap: Manzano's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Manzano had lost seven straight headed into Friday's matchup, but Estevan Gonzalez didn't let it get to eight. The Manzano Monarchs secured a 57-53 W over the Rio Grande Ravens on Friday thanks in part to Gonzalez, who posted 14 points along with eight assists and five boards. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in assists.

Manzano's victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-8. As for Rio Grande, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last ten games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-13 record this season.

Manzano will square off against Eldorado at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Manzano is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.9 points per game this season. As for Rio Grande, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 62-42 defeat against Melrose on the 18th.
