Basketball Recap: Hagerty Falls Despite Big Games from Brooke Leonard and Jarianna Fletcher

Hagerty was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They lost 44-24 to the Apopka Blue Darters. The Huskies were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Blue Darters apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.

Despite the defeat, Hagerty had strong showings from Jarianna Fletcher, who posted seven points along with ten rebounds and three blocks, and Brooke Leonard, who put up eight points. That's the most points Fletcher has posted since back in December of 2024.

Apopka had a senior duo take command as Asia Jones scored 13 points and seven steals and Amirah Nurse went 5 for 9 on her way to 10 points and seven steals. Those 13 points set a new season-high mark for Jones. The team also got some help courtesy of Amari Dillon, who earned nine points and six boards.

Hagerty's loss dropped their record down to 5-12. As for Apopka, their win ended a ten-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 7-12.

Hagerty has already played their next match, a 51-26 victory against Lyman on the 24th. Apopka has also already played their next contest (against Olympia), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
