Soccer Recap: Downey Gets the Win

Downey hadn't done well against Enochs recently (they were 0-7-2 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Downey Knights won by a goal and slipped past the Enochs Eagles 2-1. Given the Knights' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 108th, while the Eagles are ranked 297th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Downey is also on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-2-2 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 23 goals over those six games. As for Enochs, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-4-1 record this season.

Downey didn't take long to hit the pitch again: they've already played their next match, a 4-0 win against Modesto on the 23rd. Enochs has also already played their next game, a 2-1 defeat against Gregori on the 23rd.
