Soccer Game Preview: Tennyson vs. Encinal

The Tennyson Lancers will venture away from home to take on the Encinal Jets at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Tennyson's last three games have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Tennyson took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They won by a goal and slipped past San Lorenzo 2-1.

Lionel Garcia and Juan Barragan scored both of Tennyson's goals, bringing their combined season tally to seven goals.

Meanwhile, Encinal was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat. They lost 6-0 to Arroyo. While losing is never fun, the Jets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 1106th, while the Dons are ranked 399th).

Tennyson's victory bumped their record up to 9-4-3. As for Encinal, their loss dropped their record down to 0-9.

Everything went Tennyson's way against Encinal in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, as Tennyson made off with a 3-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Tennyson since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
