Softball Game Preview: Canyon Cougars vs. Davenport Wolves

The Canyon Cougars will venture away from home to challenge the Davenport Wolves at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Canyon's pitching crew has only allowed 1.5 runs per game this season, so Davenport's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Canyon easily dispatched Floresville on Thursday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. Canyon fell just short of Clemens by a score of 5-3 on Tuesday. The game marked the Cougars' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Meanwhile, it was close, but on Tuesday Davenport sidestepped O'Connor for a 3-2 win. That's two games straight that the Wolves have won by just one run.

Harper Mcquade spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on five hits. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (three).

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Ashlynn Kennedy, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. MACKINSEY Mendoza also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Davenport's victory bumped their record up to 8-4-1. As for Canyon, their loss dropped their record down to 9-2.
