Softball Recap: Woodford County Wins Going Away Against Collins

While Woodford County put up plenty of runs on Thursday, the same can't be said for Collins. The Yellowjackets put the hurt on the Titans with a sharp 15-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Yellowjackets, who have now won six games by ten runs or more so far this season.

Woodford County got a great performance from Kylie Stamper as she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Stamper has posted since back in March.

At the plate, Addie Bryant and Lily Slayton did most of the damage at the plate: Bryant got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI, while Slayton got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one double. Those three runs gave Slayton a new career-high. Lyla Pitzer also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Woodford County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Collins only posted an OBP of .188.

Woodford County has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-8-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.2 runs over those games. As for Collins, their loss dropped their record down to 7-4.

Woodford County didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 6-0 defeat against Scott County on the 18th. Collins has also already played their next game (against West Jessamine), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
