Basketball Game Preview: South Guilford HomeSchool Cougars vs. Cumberland Christian Home Educators Hawks

The South Guilford HomeSchool Cougars will be taking part in a tournament against the Cumberland Christian Home Educators Hawks at 2:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses apiece.

South Guilford HomeSchool saw some tournament action on Wednesday. They fell to Frederick W 46-42.

Meanwhile, it was a Battle of the Birds when Cumberland Christian Home Educators faced off against Summit Christian Academy on Thursday. Cumberland Christian Home Educators took a 54-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of Summit Christian Academy.

South Guilford HomeSchool will need to focus on slowing down Joshua Sloan, one of several Cumberland Christian Home Educators players who made an impact when they last played. He posted 18 points in addition to eight rebounds and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Noah Hughes, who had six points along with nine boards and three blocks.

Even though they lost, Cumberland Christian Home Educators smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in three consecutive games.

South Guilford HomeSchool's loss dropped their record down to 24-17. As for Cumberland Christian Home Educators, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 24-17.

South Guilford HomeSchool came up short against Cumberland Christian Home Educators in their previous meeting back in March of 2023, falling 73-62. Can South Guilford HomeSchool avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
