Basketball Recap: Crete-Monee Falls Despite Big Games from Alaura King and Kimora Darby

Crete-Monee was the 46-40 winner over Thornton Fractional South when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Crete-Monee Warriors fell 54-44 to the Thornton Fractional South Red Wolves on Saturday. The Warriors' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Crete-Monee's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Kimora Darby, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 boards, and AlAurA King, who posted 15 points in addition to six boards and six steals. King is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season.

Crete-Monee's loss dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Thornton Fractional South, their victory bumped their record up to 6-2.

Crete-Monee wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 54-37 defeat against Bloom on the 10th. As for Thornton Fractional South, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 58-23 win against Argo on the 10th.
