Basketball Recap: Naselle Comes Up Short

Naselle was the 62-53 winner over Ocosta when they last played one another last Saturday, but their luck changed this time around. The Naselle Comets lost 71-47 to the Ocosta Wildcats on Monday.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Ocosta to victory, but perhaps none more so than Sonny Beard, who dropped a double-double with 18 points and ten rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Beard a new career-high in blocks (three). Dalton Welch was another key player, going 7 for 14 on his way to 14 points in addition to five assists and five boards.

Naselle's loss dropped their record down to 12-9. As for Ocosta, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 14 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season.

Looking ahead, Naselle will head out on the road to square off against Wahkiakum at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Ocosta, they will be playing at home against Pe Ell at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Ocosta is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.7 points per game this season.
