Basketball Recap: Lake Gibson Sets Scoring Season-High Against Oasis Christian

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lake Gibson). They breezed by the Oasis Christian Lions to the tune of 65-35 on Friday. The win was some much needed relief for the Braves as it spelled an end to their nine-game losing streak.

Lake Gibson got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Shania Benjamin out in front who posted 29 points. That makes it four consecutive games in which Benjamin has scored at least a third of Lake Gibson's points. Another player making a difference was Grace Hough, who had 19 points.

Despite the defeat, Oasis Christian saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Raileigh Moates earned 13 points. Those 13 points gave Moates a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Karsyn Roberts, who scored nine points.

Lake Gibson's win ended a six-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-11. As for Oasis Christian, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-11.

When Lake Gibson and Oasis Christian next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Lake Gibson will take on Mulberry and their nine-game winning streak at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Oasis Christian will try to stop Bayshore Christian's five-game winning streak when the meet at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
