Baseball Game Preview: North Warren Central Cougars vs. Schroon Lake Wildcats

The North Warren Central Cougars will face off against the Schroon Lake Wildcats at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. North Warren Central will be strutting in after a victory while Schroon Lake will be coming in after a loss.

North Warren Central is looking to give their home crowd another W after opening their season at home on Monday. They came out on top against Corinth by a score of 9-4.

Owen Scheafer was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching four innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Scheafer was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, North Warren Central let Daniel Mattison and Wyatt Jennings run wild. Mattison scored a run while going 2-for-3, while Jennings scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances. That's the most hits Mattison has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Brodie Rooker, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Schroon Lake kicked off their season on the road on Friday and hit a couple of potholes. They lost 10-3 to Warrensburg.

Schroon Lake saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Camden Lamphear, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.
