Basketball Game Preview: Liberty Patriots vs. Mount Si Wildcats

The Liberty Patriots will venture away from home to challenge the Mount Si Wildcats at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Liberty will bounce into Wednesday's match after beating Hazen, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. Liberty was the clear victor by a 65-41 margin over Hazen on Saturday. Given the Patriots' advantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 73rd, while the Highlanders are ranked 218th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Mount Si, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 53-50 win over Inglemoor on Wednesday.

Mount Si has also been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-9 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.0 points per game. As for Liberty, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-5.

Liberty didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Mount Si in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, but they still walked away with a 47-41 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Liberty since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
