Petaluma is a perfect 10-0 against Justin-Siena since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Trojans will host the Braves at 4:00 p.m. Petaluma is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.8 runs per game this season.
Petaluma will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs last Wednesday, then bounced right back against Sonoma Valley on Wednesday. The Trojans put the hurt on the Dragons with a sharp 12-1 victory. The win continues a trend for the Trojans in their matchups with the Dragons: they've now won four in a row.
Lily Pardini made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, Petaluma got a massive performance out of Lauren Wilson, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most runs Wilson has posted since back in March. Taylor Pellonari was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.
Petaluma kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They are 7-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Justin-Siena lost 18-3 to American Canyon on Wednesday.
Caiden Grimmer was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Payton Edwards, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.
Justin-Siena's loss dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Petaluma, their victory bumped their record up to 10-5.
Friday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Petaluma has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .434. However, it's not like Justin-Siena struggles in that department as they've averaged .461. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Petaluma took their win against Justin-Siena when the teams last played back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 22-0 score. Do the Trojans have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Braves turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
