Baseball Game Preview: Colony Titans vs. Diamond Bar Brahmas

The Colony Titans are taking a road trip to square off against the Diamond Bar Brahmas at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Colony is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.6 runs per game this season.

Colony proved they can win big on Saturday (they won by seven) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past Patriot 11-10. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Titans, who until this contest were averaging 3.71 runs allowed.

Anthony Moreno looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Elijah Ybanez and Carlos Barba did most of the damage at the plate: Ybanez scored a run while going 3-for-4, while Barba got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one triple. That triple marked the first that Barba hit this season. Another player making a difference was James Cook, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Diamond Bar fell victim to Monrovia and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They came up short against the Wildcats, falling 9-0. Having soared to a lofty 16 runs in the game before, the Brahmas' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Colony's victory was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-1. As for Diamond Bar, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-4 record this season.

Diamond Bar's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Colony hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .390. It's a different story for Diamond Bar, though, as they've only averaged .201. Will they be able to contain Colony's hitters?

Colony was able to grind out a solid win over Diamond Bar in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, winning 7-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for Colony since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
