Soccer Recap: Mt. Vernon Starts Season with Victory on the Road

Mt. Vernon had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. Their defense stepped up to hand the Lakewood Lancers a 6-0 shutout on Saturday. The score was close at halftime, but Mt. Vernon pulled away in the second half with five goals.

Looking ahead, Mt. Vernon will face off against Watkins Memorial at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Lakewood, they will hit the road for the first time this season to face off against Pleasant at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
