Preview: Los Molinos Bulldogs vs. Biggs Wolverines
The Los Molinos Bulldogs and the Biggs Wolverines will face off at 8:00 p.m. on February 2nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
You can't lose the match if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Los Molinos' strategy against the Lynx on Tuesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Los Molinos blew the Lynx out of the water with a 52-23 final score. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Los Molinos.
Los Molinos' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Luke Cantonwine, who scored 12 points along with four steals. Cantonwine is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Karson Fox, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 11 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Biggs entered their tilt with the Braves with eight consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with nine. Biggs came out on top against the Braves by a score of 71-59 on Tuesday. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Biggs' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Chase McLean, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 24 rebounds. McLean is crushing the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Brady Smith, who scored 21 points along with three steals.
Los Molinos has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-11 record this season. As for Biggs, their win was their eighth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-5.
Friday's game is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: Los Molinos have been dynamite from deep this season, having made 37.1% of their threes per game. However, it's not like Biggs struggles in that department as they've made 41.8% of their threes this season. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Los Molinos suffered a grim 80-55 defeat to the Wolverines when the teams last played back in January. The matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Los Molinos was down 48-21.
