Basketball Game Preview: River View Black Bears vs. Maysville Panthers

River View hasn't had much luck against Maysville recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The River View Black Bears will be playing at home against the Maysville Panthers at 7:30 p.m. River View is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.4 points per game this season.

River View is headed into Friday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Friday. They lost 63-38 to Sheridan.

The losing side was boosted by Cael Summers, who went 5 for 10 en route to 11 points. He is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. Layton Massie was another key player, putting up four points and five rebounds.

Meanwhile, Maysville unfortunately witnessed the end of their nine-game winning streak on Tuesday. The contest between them and Tri-Valley didn't end well, with Maysville falling 65-48. The game marked the Panthers' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

River View's defeat dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Maysville, their loss ended a nine-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 10-2.

River View was dealt a bruising 71-29 defeat at the hands of Maysville in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. Can River View avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
