Juarez ranks as the No. 1 outside linebacker in the nation by 247Sports, however he was also a big threat on offense, as he accounted for 60 touchdowns passing and rushing while leading North to a 9-3 record. Juarez was named the Southern Section Western Division Defensive MVP and was named the All-Southland Player of the Year by the Los Angeles Times.
Juarez finished with 146 tackles on the season while passing for 1,658 yards and 23 touchdowns and rushing for 1,370 yards and 36 touchdowns.
Eric Zomalt of Citrus Hill (Perris) is the Medium Schools Coach of the Year. After winning the Inland Division championship, Citrus Hill topped 13-1 Calabasas in the semifinals of the Division II-A state bowl games by a 56-21 score. Zomalt then led his team to a 23-20 win over Central Coast Section champion Saint Francis in the finals.
The Medium Schools All-State Team consists of 30 players on the first team and 30 on the second team. The players are chosen from schools that play in section enrollment divisions that are generally between 1,000 and 2,000 students. They include: North Coast Section Division 2 and 3; Northern Section Division 2; Sac-Joaquin Section Division 3; Central Coast Section Open Division 2; Central Section Division 2 and 3; Los Angeles City Section Division II; San Diego Section Division 2 and 3; Oakland Section, San Francisco Section and Southern Section Central Division, Eastern Division, Inland Division, Southeast Division, Southwest Division, Western Division and Northern Division.
