Volleyball Recap: Lanphier Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Lanphier can now relate to. They fell just short of the Springfield Southeast Spartans by a score of 2-1 on Monday. The Lions' defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it six in a row.

Miley Frakes paced Lanphier's offense, picking up 14 kills. Frakes got some help from Elizabeth Powell and her 19 assists. Powell was also solid from the service line: she led the team with four aces.

Springfield Southeast was led to victory by Parker Maxey and Josey Grant. Maxey had 31 assists and five digs, while Grant had ten digs and one assist. Those 31 assists gave Maxey a new career-high.

Lanphier's loss dropped their record down to 6-27. As for Springfield Southeast, their win ended a six-match drought on the road and puts them at 7-21.

Lanphier does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Springfield Southeast, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-0 defeat against Morton on the 28th.
