Basketball Recap: Poinciana Piles Up the Points Against Liberty

Poinciana had to skate by with only a two-point margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the 33-point drubbing they dealt Liberty on Thursday. The Poinciana Eagles breezed by the Liberty Chargers to the tune of 43-10. The game marked the Eagles' most dominant win of the season.

Poinciana found their leader in sophomore Jaella Griffin, who went 6 of 11 on her way to 14 points and seven steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Natalia Calderon, who posted 14 points along with five boards and four steals.

Poinciana was working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in January of 2024.

Poinciana's victory bumped their record up to 3-6. As for Liberty, they dropped their record down to 1-4 with the defeat, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season.

Poinciana didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 65-57 loss against Osceola on the 10th. As for Liberty, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Auburndale at 6:30 p.m.
