Basketball Recap: McDonough Warhawks vs. Pace Academy Knights
The McDonough Warhawks lost against the Pace Academy Knights last Friday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. McDonough fell 59-52 to the Knights. McDonough has struggled against the Knights recently, as their match on Saturday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
When it comes to explaining why McDonough lost, one person who can't be blamed is Janique Trinidad. Despite the final result, she scored 23 points along with five assists and five rebounds. Trinidad is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 18 or more in the last four games she's played. Amiyah Dedrick was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with five steals.
Pace Academy found their leader in underclassman Lawson Monroe, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 21 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Kate Grice, who scored nine points along with three steals.
McDonough's defeat dropped their record down to 10-13. As for Pace Academy, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-4.
McDonough and the Lions will face off at 6:00 p.m. on February 2nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Luella will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive. Pace Academy will take on the Tigers at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. One thing working in Stockbridge's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four contests.
