Baseball Recap: Ironwood Eagles vs. Fairfax Stampede
Ironwood was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 6-5 heartbreaker at the hands of the Fairfax Stampede. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Stampede this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-10 back in February.
Sebastian Rodriguez was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. Rodriguez was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI.
In other batting news, Lane Stilwell was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-4. Alex Misner was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.
Ironwood's record now sits at 3-10. As for Fairfax, their record is now 6-8.
Coming up, Ironwood will venture away from home to take on Centennial at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. The Coyotes will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something the Eagles surely won't give up without a fight. As for Fairfax, they will be playing in front of their home fans against North at 3:45 p.m. on Monday.
