Baseball Game Preview: Richfield Wildcats vs. Ogden Tigers

The Richfield Wildcats are taking a road trip to challenge the Ogden Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Richfield will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.

On Thursday, Richfield didn't have quite enough to beat Manti and fell 17-16. The loss continues a trend for the Wildcats in their meetings with the Templars: they've now lost five in a row.

Hayden Reed put in work while hitting and pitching. He tossed six innings while giving up just one earned (and nine unearned) runs off eight hits. Reed was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off two home runs and five RBI while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Bridger Vincent was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Richfield's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 5-15 when he doesn't). Max Albrecht also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Meanwhile, Ogden fell victim to Provo and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They came up short against the Bulldogs, falling 10-0. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Tigers' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Ogden saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Rodrigo Torres, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

Richfield's record now sits at 7-16. As for Ogden, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 5-19 record.
