Baseball Game Preview: King's Academy Knights vs. Pioneer Mustangs

The King's Academy Knights will challenge the Pioneer Mustangs at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The last three games King's Academy has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

King's Academy took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They had just enough and edged out Sequoia 6-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Knights have posted since February 27th.

King's Academy got a great performance from Thomas Castro as he struck out six batters over five innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Those six strikeouts gave Castro a new career-high.

On the hitting side, King's Academy let Ethan Johnson and Nate Plata run wild. Johnson went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI, while Plata scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Pioneer came up short against Menlo-Atherton on Friday and fell 7-3.

King's Academy's win bumped their record up to 6-4. As for Pioneer, their defeat was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-7.

King's Academy suffered a grim 14-5 defeat to Pioneer in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Can the Knights avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
