Recap: The Master's Academy Lions vs. Pinnacle Classical Academy Eagles
It was a good run, but The Master's Academy Lions unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Monday. They took a 48-38 hit to the loss column at the hands of Pinnacle Classical Academy. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as The Master's Academy came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 71st, while Pinnacle Classical Academy is ranked 252nd).
Pinnacle Classical Academy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Akeelah Davis out in front who dropped a triple-double on 15 points, 11 rebounds, and 10 blocks. That makes it three consecutive games in which Davis has scored at least 25% of Pinnacle Classical Academy's points. Another player making a difference was Lilly Price, who scored 16 points along with 5 rebounds.
The Master's Academy's loss was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 5-1. As for Pinnacle Classical Academy, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 4-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. The Master's Academy will take on Community Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Community Christian Academy is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. Pinnacle Classical Academy will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Highland Tech at 5:30 p.m. on December 15th.
