Recap: River Mill Jaguars vs. Chatham Charter Knights
It was a good run, but the River Mill Jaguars unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They fell 53-42 to Chatham Charter. River Mill found out winning isn't easy when you're outrebounded 16 to 4 on offense.
River Mill's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Anthony Brown, who scored 14 points along with six steals, and Will Jones who scored 13 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Brown has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. Another player making a difference was Matthew Light, who scored five points.
Jonah Ridgill was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds for Chatham Charter. Ridgill has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Brennan LaVelle, who scored six points along with nine rebounds and three steals.
River Mill's defeat dropped their record down to 9-9. As for Chatham Charter, the win got them back to even at 10-10.
River Mill will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Southern Wake Academy at 7:30 p.m. As for Chatham Charter, they will head out on the road to challenge Ascend Leadership at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Ascend Leadership is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
