Softball Recap: Riverbend Has No Trouble Against King George

After only two runs in their last matchup, Riverbend made sure to put some runs up on the board against King George on Wednesday. The Bears blew past the Foxes 10-4. With that win, the Bears brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.

Chloe King made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-3. She also put up a double, which was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Isa Barber and Norah Clark did most of the damage at the plate: Barber got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI, while Clark went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Makenzie Thomas also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

The victory got Riverbend back to even at 3-3. As for King George, their defeat ended a ten-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 2-2.

Riverbend and King George will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Bears are set to take on their familiar foe Mountain View at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, King George will face off against rival Culpeper County at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
