Softball Game Preview: Arcadia Redskins vs. Elmwood Royals

For the first time this season, Arcadia will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will face off against the Elmwood Royals at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Arcadia will be strutting in after a victory while Elmwood will be coming in after a loss.

On Tuesday, Arcadia was able to grind out a solid win over Upper Scioto Valley, taking the game 5-1. The victory continues a trend for the Redskins in their matchups with the Rams: they've now won four in a row.

Alanna Tucker spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on zero hits and racked up 15 Ks. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 6.2 strikeouts per game.

On the hitting side, Addy Colman was excellent, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March of 2024. Addyson McCartney also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.

Colman wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Arcadia kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Upper Scioto Valley didn't got any hits.

Meanwhile, Monday just wasn't the day for Elmwood's offense. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Whitmer on Monday. The Royals' defeat continues a trend for the team, making it three in a row.

Elmwood saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Trinity Sander, who went 2-for-4 with one double.

Arcadia's record is now 3-1. As for Elmwood, their loss dropped their record down to 2-4.

Arcadia suffered a grim 13-0 defeat to Elmwood when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Redskins avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
