Baseball Recap: Cox Mill Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Cox Mill got themselves on the board against West Cabarrus on Friday, but West Cabarrus never followed suit. They came out on top against the Wolverines by a score of 4-0. That's two games straight that the Chargers have won by exactly four runs.

Not much got past Jackson Caldwell, who gave up just five hits and racked up 14 Ks to keep West Cabarrus off the board. Those 14 strikeouts gave Caldwell a new career-high.

At the plate, Cox Mill's victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was John Kirby, who scored a run while going 1-for-2. McCray Trimble also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

The win (which was Cox Mill's third in a row) raised their record to 6-2. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for West Cabarrus, they dropped their record down to 3-6 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.

Looking ahead, Cox Mill will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Mooresville at 6:30 p.m. The last three games Mooresville has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for West Cabarrus, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 5-3 defeat against Central Cabarrus on the 22nd.
