Soccer Game Preview: West Ranch vs. Saugus

The West Ranch Wildcats will take on the Saugus Centurions at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

If Saugus heads into halftime all tied up, they better play a good second half: that's when West Ranch took over last week. West Ranch walked away with a 3-1 win over Canyon on Tuesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Wildcats.

They hit Canyon with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Jason Kaufman, Brandon Salazar, and Adam Lopez.

Meanwhile, Saugus hasn't lost a match since December 19, 2024, a trend which continued in their latest game on Tuesday. They never let Valencia onto the board and left with a 2-0 victory. Given the Centurions' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 181st, while the Vikings are ranked 381st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Saugus is also on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-2-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 31 goals over those eight contests. As for West Ranch, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-4-3.
