The Fuquay - Varina Bengals will head out on the road to challenge the Corinth Holders Pirates at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Fuquay - Varina had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the seven-run drubbing they dealt Clayton last Thursday. The Bengals were the clear victors by an 8-1 margin over the Comets.

Kylie McGrogan spent all seven innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Emma Peacock was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Chloe Webb, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI.
Meanwhile, Corinth Holders got themselves on the board against Southeast Raleigh on Tuesday, but Southeast Raleigh never followed suit. They blew past the Bulldogs 15-0. The Pirates haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.
Elizabeth McKenzie was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). McKenzie was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in both of her plate appearances. That stolen base marked the first that she snagged this season.
In other batting news, Alyssa Tanner and Mia Gwynn did most of the damage at the plate: Tanner went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI, while Gwynn went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That triple was Tanner's first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Marks, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
Corinth Holders always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .905. The last time their OBP was this high was back in March of 2024.
Corinth Holders' victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-2. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Fuquay - Varina, their record now sits at 7-3.
Tuesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Fuquay - Varina has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .438. However, it's not like Corinth Holders struggles in that department as they've averaged .503. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Fuquay - Varina was able to grind out a solid victory over Corinth Holders in their previous matchup back in March, winning 6-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bengals since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
