Halle Sargent leads a balanced attack to beat Houlka

Recap: Smithville Seminoles vs. Houlka Wildcats

On Tuesday, the Smithville Seminoles's game was all tied up 11-11 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They came out on top against Houlka by a score of 35-25. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Smithville also won the last time the pair played last Tuesday.

Smithville got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Halle Sargent out in front who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine rebounds. Sargent hasn't dropped below two blocks for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Mary Haley Hood, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 13 rebounds.

Despite the loss, Houlka still got an impressive performance from Olivia Halford, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds. That was a full 68% of Houlka's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.

Smithville has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a massive bump to their 11-17 record this season. As for Houlka, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-23.

Smithville does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Houlka, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on South Pontotoc at 6:00 p.m. on February 29th. Houlka is coming into the match with 24 straight defeats on the road, meaning South Pontotoc will have to defend against a team hungry for a victory.
