12. Right place, right time for Elk Grove

Standing past the expected landing spot of a Hail Mary can pay off. Ask Elk Grove (Elk Grove Village, Ill.), which stole a victory from Rolling Meadows (Ill.). Was it tipped? Likely. Or maybe it went just over the hands of the players up front. Either way, it's a great way to start the slideshow.

11. Lone Star laterals win game for A&M

Fourty-four points were scored in the final four minutes in a game between A&M Consolidated (College Station, Texas) and Copperas Cove (Texas). None of them were close to as spectacular as the six put up by Derrick Dick after getting a lateral and taking it in for the score. See this lateral-laden highlight for a jaw-dropping play.

10. Hail Mary answers Brother Rice's prayer

Al Fracassa's squad nipped rival De La Salle Collegiate (Warren, Mich.) 26-24 thanks to a successful Hail Mary pass from quarterback Alex Malzone to receiver to Jason Alessi with no time remaining, giving Brother Rice an improbable victory over one of its chief rivals.

{PAGEBREAK}9. Ealy Bell picks up the pieces and saves the game

What's better than a game-winning free throw?

A game-winning, turn-around 3-pointer.

The last-second heroics took place in Kansas as Heights (Wichita, Kan.) senior forward Ealy Bell grabbed a loose ball from the clutches of a Wichita Southeast player in the game's final seconds, and somehow was able to fire off a desperation shot from the right sideline that kissed the glass and sunk in to give Heights a dramatic 65-62 victory.

{PAGEBREAK}8. Zach Gwillim hits walk-off homer in state final for first varsity hit

Zach Gwillim went from zero to hero in one of the biggest ways possible Friday.

We don't mean to say Gwillim, a sophomore for Monroe (Ore.), was a zero. Just that he had zero hits at the varsity level.

Then he smashed a pinch-hit, walk-off home run to win a state title. So now he has one varsity hit — the biggest of the year for his team, which won the title by a 2-1 score.

{PAGEBREAK}7. Dylan Clingan erases two-point deficit from 70 feet away

The score, time remaining and distance from the hoop make Dylan Clingan's shot difficult to top. The miracle heave gave Cameron County (Emporium, Pa.) a 44-43 win over Ridgeway (Pa.).

{PAGEBREAK}6. Rachel Dube hits walk-off home run in 15th inning to win state title

The first 14 innings of the Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference Class LL state title game were simply building up the suspense. Then Rachel Dube ended it all with one swing of the bat, eliciting a raucous celebration.

The Southington (Conn.) senior catcher hit the biggest home run of her life when she won a state title with a walk-off home run to left field in the 15th inning to beat Amity 1-0 for the title.

{PAGEBREAK}5. Trever Wendel's 40-yard buzzer beater wins soccer playoff game

The buzzer-beater isn't just for basketball, and the Hail Mary isn't just for football.

Need proof? Check out the amazing goal scored by Trever Wendel in a district semifinal game for Aurora (Ohio). It was the final seconds of overtime, and he let loose with a prayer. And it was answered.

{PAGEBREAK}4. Texas baseball player hits walk-off grand slam to win playoff game

It's one thing to dream about hitting game-winning home runs. It's quite another to actually do it when the pressure is on.

The players and fans at Cinco Ranch (Katy, Texas) got to experience the thrill of a lifetime when senior Trent Bowles hit a walk-off grand slam to give his team a 12-10 win over Lamar (Houston) on Saturday to win the Bi-District playoff matchup.

{PAGEBREAK}3. "Plain City Prayer" is answered

What's more exciting than a Hail Mary pass to end a game?

One of the wildest Hail Mary plays in years took place when Fremont (Plain City, Utah) played host to Roy (Utah).

Trailing 12-7 with just seconds to play, Roy quarterback Tyler Skidemore uncorked a long throw toward the end zone that was deflected and ultimately landed in the arms of receiver Justin Weaves to give Roy a stunning 13-12 victory over Fremont.

The YouTube video submission dubbed the video, "The Plain City Prayer."

{PAGEBREAK}2. Dustin Neyer's miraculous buzzer beater

A busted lob play never looked so good. With the score tied 47-47 and 0.8 seconds remaining, Sacred Heart Academy (Mt. Pleasant, Mich.) attempted an inbound lob play from mid-court against Fulton-Middleton in the Class D regional finals. The inbound pass was a little too strong and bounced hard off the backboard and out past the 3-point arc. Somehow, the ball ended up in front of Sacred Heart's Dustin Neyer. He grabbed it and shot it all in one motion.

{PAGEBREAK}1. Amir Coffey ends 4OT playoff thriller with half-court buzzer beater

Amir Coffey's half-court prayer was answered, as the Hopkins (Minnetonka, Minn.) sophomore sank a buzzer beater in quadruple overtime to help lift Hopkins to a dramatic 49-46 victory over Shakopee in the a Minnesota Class AAAA state semifinal game played at the Target Center.

With two seconds remaining and the score knotted 46-46, Coffey took the inbounds pass from under his own hoop.

With a defender in pursuit, he dribbled twice and, well behind half-court, heaved a desperation attempt that, if unsuccessful, would have sent the game into a fifth overtime.

Somehow, the shot swished in, and Coffey, his teammates and Hopkins fans erupted as Hopkins claimed a stunning 49-46 victory.
