Softball Recap: Bacon Academy's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

There's no place like home for Bacon Academy, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Montville Wolves on Thursday, sneaking past 5-3. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Riley Stolzman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on four hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, Reina Hill was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Bacon Academy moved to 4-7 with that win, which also ended their five-game losing streak. As for Montville, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-5.

Coming up, Bacon Academy will challenge Killingly at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Montville, they will face off against Wheeler at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Wolves' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Lions have averaged an impressive 10.5 runs per game this season.
