The Tampa Bay Tech Titans's game on Tuesday was all tied up 21-21 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They took a 50-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of Armwood. While losing is never fun, Tampa Bay Tech can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 343rd, while Armwood is ranked 158th).
Tampa Bay Tech's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Breanna Hartley, who scored 12 points along with five assists and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Azjannie Culberth, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds and five steals.
Amaya Richardson continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Armwood, scoring 15 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. Na'Chauncia Welch was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with two steals.
Tampa Bay Tech has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-10 record this season. As for Armwood, they pushed their record up to 15-6 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home.
Tampa Bay Tech will head out on the road to square off against Robinson at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Robinson focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Wednesday. As for Armwood, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Bloomingdale at 6:30 p.m. on January 24th. Bloomingdale is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling.
