Baseball Recap: Onaga Buffaloes vs. St. Marys Bears        
        
		
            
 Onaga has not done well against St. Marys recently (they were 1-7 in their previous eight matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way  in Monday's  second game. The Onaga Buffaloes walked away with  an   8-3  win over the St. Marys Bears. This was a revenge  match for Onaga, as the team was forced to settle for  an  11-8 loss when these two played  in Monday's  first game.
  Jackson Kolterman made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound,   pitching seven innings while giving up just two earned  (and one unearned) runs off   five  hits. Kolterman has been consistent recently: he hasn't  given up  more than two  walks in five consecutive pitching appearances. Kolterman was also big at the plate,  scoring two  runs and  stealing a base.
 In other batting news,  the team  relied heavily on  Hunter Lamond, who  went 1-for-3 with a  home run and four  RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to  home runs, as he's  now  launched  at least one in the last three games he's  played.  Rayce Fisher was another key contributor,  scoring a  run and  stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
 Like Onaga, St. Marys also got a great game from a two-way player:  Lane Smith. On the mound, he  pitched two innings while giving up   no  earned runs or  hits (he also didn't allow any  walks). Smith was also solid in the batter's box,  scoring two  runs and  stealing two bases while  getting on base  in all four of his plate appearances.
 Smith wasn't  the only one making solid contact as  four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was  Killian McCann, who  scored a  run and  stole a base while going 1-for-3.
 Onaga's victory bumped their record up to 7-3. As for St. Marys, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-6.
 Onaga will stay at home for another  game and welcome Valley Heights at 4:30  p.m.  in Monday's  first game. Onaga is strutting in with some hitting muscle, as they've averaged 11.2  runs per game  this season. As for St. Marys, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Rossville at 1:00  p.m.  on Thursday. Rossville will roll in looking for their  fifth straight  win, something St. Marys surely won't give up without a fight.
