Basketball Recap: Sandusky Comes Up Short

Sandusky was the 80-63 winner over Perkins when they last played one another back in December of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Sandusky Blue Streaks were just a bucket shy of victory on Friday and fell 48-47 to the Perkins Pirates. The Blue Streaks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Sandusky lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Maekayla Rameau, who posted 14 points along with eight assists and eight steals. Rameau is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ra'Kiya Collier, who earned eight points in addition to 11 boards and three steals.

Even though they lost, Sandusky smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 23 consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Sandusky's loss dropped their record down to 5-10. As for Perkins, their victory bumped their record up to 7-10.

Sandusky will square off against Bowsher at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Perkins, they will take on Port Clinton at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
